Serie N° 118: Análisis documental de la fotografía histórica: procedimientos y métodos de trabajo.

Abstract

The objective of this research work was to determine the current technical methods and procedures used in the documentary analysis of historical photographs, through a bibliographic review of specialized information on the subject. Information searches were performed in different databases (both subscribed and free), directories, repositories, academic social networks, and content aggregators. As a result, the determination of eleven methods of documentary analysis applied to historical photography, which are grouped into four macro models according to their characteristics. In addition to this, it was possible to identify the data that constitute the state of the art of the subject and which are the elements and technical procedures used in the process of organization and classification of historical photographs. In conclusion, the procedures applied to the documentary analysis of historical photographs are essential for this resource, since thanks to it is possible to recover the information contained in it, and it also gives validity to its content, which guarantees that its use as a documentary source is reliable and a great contribution to knowledge.
