Serie N° 73: Bibliotecas Públicas en Chile: antecedentes, buenas prácticas y proyecciones.
Resumen
In the last twenty years, public libraries have become a relevant issue in the reading promotion in Chile. Have contributed importantly to reduce lack of reading skills - important factor of exclusion- which produces functional illiteracy, informational and technological development. The Chilean State through the Directorate of Libraries, Archives and Museums, public and private organizations and civil society have advanced plans, programs, campaigns and systematic development of these institutions in the country. In this context this research examines the history, practices and projections of public libraries in Chile.
